Hung Dang
My name is Hung Dang. My son, Christian, has been enrolled at Whole Earth Montessori for nearly five years. Each day I send him to school with confidence that his academic and social needs will be nurtured by the many caring staff, faculty, and administrators employed at WEM. Christian is a second-year student in Alison’s class. Alison has done an unbelievable job working with Christian to cultivate his passion for learning about new things and, therefore, acquiring knowledge far earlier and in greater depth than he might in a more traditional-school environment. Before stepping into Alison’s class, he benefited from three years of learning and guidance under Nidhi; I am forever grateful for how she fostered my child’s confidence for learning how to learn.
I work as the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs at UW Bothell, where we stress that knowledge is acquired through the process of inquiry and discovery. Inquiry is at the heart of discovery—through which learning flourishes—an example of something WEM already teaches. Both Alison and Nidhi have raised Christian to develop these skills but also to respect the environment, the person, and the broader community. It does take a village to raise our children!
When I enrolled Christian at WEM, I entered into a partnership to educate and develop him into a well-rounded thinker. This partnership would not be possible without our support for one another—parents and educators—as we are all in this together. Studies have shown that children who master their learning skills and self-confidence at an early age will build a solid foundation for their future academic achievement.
WEM has my unwavering support for their work with my son’s education. WEM will continue to impact the lives and journey of many young learners of today and future generations to come.

If you are seeking the best school for your child, you owe it to yourself to consider the Whole Earth Montessori School in Bothell. Our son has attended the school for five years now and we could not be more pleased with the results.
Why is Whole Earth Montessori so outstanding? It starts with the very enlightened educational philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori which is practiced at the school. Add to that, excellent teachers, individualized attention, outstanding curriculum, student freedom with responsibility and discipline, beautiful classrooms and grounds, and lots of love. The school nurtures the development of the whole child.
We attribute our son’s tremendous academic and personal growth to his education at Whole Earth. The school's hands-on and self-directed style of learning has allowed our son to progress at his own pace under the teachers’ guidance, while feeling ownership for the success of his education and development.
The freedom and responsibility he’s been given at Whole Earth have greatly enhanced his joy of learning and allowed him to excel in many areas. Because of the school’s integrated approach, we are constantly amazed at our son’s encyclopedic knowledge of the world from earliest history to present day. We feel he has developed a very well balanced view of himself and the world.
We encourage you to take a day and visit the school, observe the classrooms, and meet the staff. Once you do, you’ll know why we’ve recommended it so strongly. If you'd like to contact us with any questions, send an email to: bobhux3@nwlink.com.

When our son was a preschooler, he was very shy and needed quite a bit of encouragement to try new things and indulge his curiosity. We thought that a Montessori school would be the best place for him to begin his education. We could not be happier with Whole Earth! Within a year in the preschool classroom, our son was “out of his shell” and was so excited about the things he was learning.
It has been four wonderful years so far and our son loves school. He is actively engaged in and out of the classroom and is not afraid to ask questions about the ‘whys’ and ‘hows’ of the world. These are the greatest gifts that Whole Earth has given him. They provide not only an excellent academic foundation for the children, but they are very conscious of providing it in an environment that honors individual learning styles and interests. We couldn’t be more pleased and we are going to be seeking a similar experience for our youngest child when the time comes.
We know that at some point, we will have to leave Whole Earth and make some decisions about where to send our son. While we wish that he could be there longer, we know that he will always carry the skills and love of learning that this school has nurtured in him. Clearly, entrusting his early education to Dianna, Kathy, and the Whole Earth staff was one of the best decisions we made.
